Description
This important and elegant Gran Selezione comes from the hills of Campòli, between Mercatale and Montefiridolfi in the Chianti Classico region. After a very strict selection in the vineyard and a long maceration on the skins, the Sangiovese destined for the Gran Selezione is vinified and aged in oak barrels for at least 30 months. It then completes its maturation in the bottle for another six months. The name of the wine comes from an ancient tabernacle immersed in the Belvedere vineyards, restored by the Guicciardini family and frescoed with the famous painting by Raphael Sanzio “The Madonna della Seggiola”.
Produced in only 2,000 bottles, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione “Il Tabernacolo” is a wine that already now in its youth manages to combine structure and elegance, thanks to a highly valuable and intense aromatic component, played on notes of ripe fruit and spices, and a rich sip, with an important tannic texture and a particularly silky and harmonious grain.
Grape varieties: Sangiovese 95%, Merlot 5%
Vinification and aging: fermentation in stainless steel vats and aging in oak barrels for 30 months, then for another 6 months in the bottle
Tasting notes: intense and deep ruby red, tending to garnet with aging. Intense and elegant bouquet, mineral, spicy, with wild and leathery notes typical of Sangiovese, enriched with a hint of red fruit. Elegant, full, rich, velvety and at the same time austere and persistent taste with a pleasantly tannic taste. Well balanced.
Food pairings: game dishes, beef or wild boar stews, roasts and grilled red meats. Suitable for elaborate and complex dishes.
