Description
The most representative traditional wine of Massi di Mandorlaia. The specific care for “Mandorlaia Riserva” starts in the vineyards, mainly by dramatically cutting down the production per plant to priviledge concentration. A balanced and unobtrusive aging in wood allows this Morellino Riserva to maintain its great freshness and drinkability.
Grape varieties: Sangiovese and complementary grapes
Fermentation and aging: fermentation in stainless steel vats, aging in barriques and partly in big oak casks.
Tasting Notes: intriguing thickness of the intense ruby color with purple reflex slightly turning to garnet, complex scents of leather, tobacco and blackberry, smooth impressive body sustained by structured and balanced silky tannins, long sweet finish with fudge and mocha notes.
Pairings: grilled, roasted or stewed red meats. In particular stewed wild boar. Also to be tried in combination with first courses based on mushrooms and long-aged cheeses, particularly savory and tasty.
